Farm/Program Coordinator

Location: World’s End School, 123 De Kay Dr, Esperance, NY 12066 

Reports To: Farm Director (Sarah Ryhanen) 

Employment Type: Seasonal (April-October)

Compensation: $20/hour with room & board (based on 40 hour weeks)

Farm/Program Coordinator is a multifaceted position supporting the Farm Director in the daily operations of both the working farm and the residency/educational program. This hybrid role requires a hands-on individual with strong organizational and communication skills who thrives in a collaborative and community-focused environment. Interest in the intersection of agriculture and creative practice is imperative.

Key Responsibilities 

Farm Operations 

  • Work with the Farm Director and farmers to plan and oversee the implementation of farm/garden tasks, including planting, harvesting, weeding, irrigation, cultivation, pest management and livestock chores

Residency Program Coordination 

  • Oversee the daily operations of the self-guided art residency program (through October 31st)

  • Onboard and welcome new residents, fostering a hospitable and inclusive environment 

  • Act as a liaison between residents and the Farm Director—responding to inquiries, providing information, and addressing needs

  • Develop and implement systems to improve the functionality and self-sufficiency of the communal residence barn

  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and report custodial and maintenance issues in the communal living space

Qualifications 

Required: 

● Prior experience in farm work, animal care, and organic gardening 

● Strong interpersonal and communication skills 

● Ability to work both independently and collaboratively 

● Organized, proactive, and community-minded 

● Comfortable living and working in rural settings 

Preferred: 

  • Experience with communal living or residency programs 

  • Conflict resolution or mediation experience 

  • Background in the arts or working with creative communities

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to make, communicate and hold boundaries 

Work Environment & Schedule 

  • This is a physically active role involving outdoor work in various weather conditions

  • Schedule may include weekends and evenings, especially during resident turnover or busy farm periods (such as our annual SUPERNATURE fundraiser week in late July)

  • On-site presence is required. Housing is available depending on the candidate's needs
