Weaving & Textiles Incubator
The Weaving & Textiles Incubator is an eight month residency designed to break down the barriers to textile production—access to studio space, equipment, materials, and experience—for makers committed to building sustainable, community-rooted businesses.
From May 1 – December 31, 2026, participants will work on-site at Worlds End, a working farm and living classroom in upstate New York, growing their own operation while receiving mentorship, infrastructure support, and direct market access through SAIPUA.
What You’ll Receive
Dedicated studio space at Worlds End for the duration of the program, including access to wool (i.e., raw, unprocessed wool and existing finished spun yarn).
$2,500 start up stipend
A place to live and work on the land, with on-site accommodation, and shared farm infrastructure that supports a sustainable making practice.
Access to expertise in textile production, business planning, and marketing, including support with bookkeeping, budgeting, and pricing.
Connection to local markets and buyers, with the opportunity to collaborate and sell directly to SAIPUA as a first client.
Visibility and community support through Worlds End and SAIPUA channels, along with a small stipend to help offset startup costs.
Participants work independently on their own businesses while contributing to the shared maintenance of the farm and participating in periodic group workdays, discussions, and community events.
Who We’re Looking For
We're seeking passionate, early-stage textile makers who:
Have a small or emerging textile business with a clear passion/vision
Bring 1-2 years of weaving or textile production experience
Are committed to sustainable practices and community-minded business models
Can commit to working regularly on-site throughout the year
Are eager to learn, collaborate, and contribute to the shared life of the farm
Priority will be given to artists committed to the Hudson Valley or upstate region, and those interested/passionate/devoted to sheep. Long-term employment and business opportunities available at Worlds End for the right participant
